CPI
Marine utilizes a unique system whereby the bladder holds air
rather than the outer hull.
The bladders hold several advantages over the conventional baffle
system:
1) With the baffle system, chasing leaks is a common problem.
This means that the leak is entering a hole in the inside coating
of the fabric, traveling in between the layers of rubber and “wicking” through
the fabric fibers, and exiting out another hole or holes in the
exterior coating of the fabric. The result is that if you fix
one leak on the outside, it can just leak through another exterior
hole or where the coating has worn thin. Leaks are easily
found with the CPI removable bladder, because only the bladder
film holds air. Once it’s fixed, it stays fixed.
2) The bladders offer additional protection from punctures.
The outer cover can be hit, subjected to abrasion, poked, cut,
or burned, and as long as the internal bladder itself is not
damaged, the collar will continue to hold air.
3) The greatest advantage to a bladder system is the fact that
when a failure occurs—caused by a puncture through the
outer cover—the bladder can easily be removed, repaired,
and replaced. All of our collars come with a spare bladder so
that when the deflated bladder is removed for repairs, a new
bladder can be inserted.
4) The punctured bladder can be removed and replaced with a
new one in minutes, thus reducing downtime to a minimum. Even
if the outer hull is damaged, in minor cases it can be given
field repairs and a new bladder, and be 100% functional until
full repair of the damage can be made.
5) No special training is required to remove, repair, and
replace a bladder. The included repair kit comes with simple
instructions and a video explaining each step. Repair is fast
(12 hours allowing for the adhesive to dry) and easy. |
